Wig Dying Experience + Animazement Final Plans + I need these in my life!
I wanted to cosplay Kagamine Rin for Animazement, but I don't have a blond wig anymore, because I gave my old one to Izzy last year. So what better thing to do than attempt to dye this really pretty silver wig I got for free last year because 'Only Wig' on Ebay tried to fuck me over. Not only did I dye this wig myself, but I cut off a good portion of it too.
First things first! the bangs had to go! they kept poking me in the eyes I hated having to sweep them to the side. Rin's bangs are swept to the side, but I felt like I could still cut them to the point where it wasn't eating my face and still have them long enough to be swept to the side.
This is about as far as I have ever gone to styling my wigs really and that's cutting the bangs ;A; with Sakura I cut a little more, but not this much...
WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!!!!!!!
(I felt's so bad this wig was insanely cute when it was long because it was layered and kinda curly at the bottom in the back :< I tried to sell it a while ago, but no one committed to buying so this was it's fate.
I cut off so much of it! I kept cutting until I was satisfied with it's length :O I think it's a little too long to be Rin, but I might add some flips to it later.
This is pretty much the part where I dyed it. On Cosplay.com it says use FW ink for $4.00. Well Hobby Lobby only had Liquitex Professional Acrylic Ink! for $5.00 >:/ I was going to get 2 bottles since this bottle is REALLY small, but I wasn't about to pay $10.
THE PROCESS!:
-I took a measuring cup and poured some rubbing alcohol (70%) inside it. The tutorial says about 1 cup, but I didn't even have that much so I just used all of it. The tutorial says 7 drops of ink or else the wig will get messed up. I like being dumb so I used 10! (wtf Jenn wtf!)
-I mixed everything in a spray bottle and shock it vigorously!!!
- I used a trash bag to cover my wig head so it didn't stain. Placed the wig on the wig head. Secured it with a pin and began spraying!
-I used a blow dryer on LOW heat when it started to drip
-Don't worry about the mess on my tub :< it came RIGHT off with cleaning solution!
I ran out of the first mix which wasn't even half the bottle! I got practically the whole wig! in just half a cup of alcohol and 10 squirts of ink! At this point I was mad I didn't have any more mix and sprayed the wig with JUST ink. I heard it makes the wig get hard, but mine never did! to be save I sprayed it with Motion's oil sheen hair spray.
It dried in about a day, but I waited a few days before I tried it on because I was sewing. Isn't that color just beautiful! it's called "Yellow Oxide" on the bottle. I thought it was going to be too dark because it was the color of a dark mustard yellow in the bottle, but the thing about dying wigs is that it only tints the color of the wig so the lightness of the wig might have help make or break how nasty yellow it turned out.
The first image is the wig with my lamp as a light source I love how gold it's like! the other is using light from my window as a source.
In conclusion: I love dying wigs! and I love this wig because I worked so much to get it at this point and it's just beautiful *w* a full transformation! people have complimented me saying it looks like two different wigs and that you can't even tell it's dyed! it's not finished yet because I still see silver on the inside, but at the moment I don't have time to dye during the week!. I was going to do a video tutorial, but I am painfully camera shy it's hard to do this and hold my camera correctly!
Wig Dying Do's and Don'ts
----
-Do dye a light colored wig. Dark wigs CANNOT be dyed light.
-Don't ever dye a long wig!. This ink is expensive!
-Do experiment! I don't know what this wig is made out of because it's not even on the site I got it from :/ I went into this almost blind!
-Do cover the floor with a towel! it gets EVERYWHERE~!
- Do rinse your wig to remove access ink. It says to rinse the wig until the water is clear. I ran my through water very quickly twice and hung it to dry in the shower.

Animazement plans are slowly being narrowed down. Out of the three of us the only person that really has money is Mike who said if me and his friend aren't buying badges he won't either. Instead we only intend to walk around long enough to say we went and then hit up South Point. It's still up to the guy who is taking us if he wants to go or not and he hasn't really made up his mind. I sort of wanted someone to get a badge so I could ask them to buy me the other Rilakkuma doll I couldn't get a the festival, but it can wait until AUSA I suppose :O which is cool becuase I really wanted to spend my money on something else. Hopefully I can convince Heather and Nelson to come to South Point too so I can treat Heather to a late birthday ice cream!. At least this way I can see Izzy too C:

The mint strawberry JSK is to die for! omg why is it so cute!? too bad it's sold out in mint. The skirt isn't and they do ship overseas!!!! ahhhhh! I am soooo tempted! regardless I REALLY want the bunny brooch because it's only $25 (+shipping) and it's just so cute! if the skirt is still around by the time I get money then it is a maybe, but it's so hard to choose! I really want to get Qcute's Marionette girl jsk before it sells out again (which I am sure it will, by the time I get my money next month :/ I regret buying the Milky-chan one, but I can't bring it to myself to sell it so I could get the other because I do feel very cute in it!.). I also really want to quit fucking around a buy my dream dress which is Baby's Parfait JSK in black ;A; or AP's Cherry Berry Bunny JSK in pink. I might wait until fall for the AP one, but gosh darn it! the Innocent World one won't leave me alone!!! STOP BEING SO CUTE! I DEMAND IT!
P.S. So far my Math Teacher is silly and messed up a problem and we all had to correct him. We now doubt his skills to teach us. My English teacher scares me. She says she hates people around my age group which is why she loves teaching night classes (this is a night class btw). I am the youngest one in the room....I feel.....idk.. out of place? also our first assignment is to recite something for 5 mins in front of everyone. Ugh I am so nervous she really scares the shit out of me. I mean she is funny, but she is so serious about it that it's funny? she also seems really unapproachable... I hate teachers that create a wall between them and their students.
I'll save the other stuff I was going to post about for later, because right now I just want to curl in my bed and play Pokemon.
