Touched
I'm about to head off to take a shower, finish round 2 of dishes, and work on chapter 30, but a few things have gotten me thinking today....
DII is my second family, and some of them absolutely floor me with their dedication. We have members who struggle with life threatening conditions who are determined to do their crits every month even if they can't do much more. We have members who make me cry when they tell me how much it means to them, how much it's a part of their lives and changed their lives for the better. Just knowing I have touched them, that DII has touched them, in ways I never imagined humbles me.
And now we have members who are getting published, some for the first time, and many of them point to DII as a pivotal reason for it. DII has been doing what I wanted it to do when I first founded it: it's building confidence and helping writers grow. If I never reach my dreams (and don't slap me for this, shade53), I will still have the honor of knowing that I and the workshop helped others reach theirs. And I am slowly building a bookshelf to help remind me of just that.
I can't even explain how all this makes me feel. All I can say is that this, this is the reason I created DII, and hope that others will understand.
Somehow, I think at least the DII members will.
