I was in the car with my mom, in our old white Taurus, driving down a small side street, when we noticed about a dozen police officers running across a lawn. We saw some people running too, and heard gunshots, and so we both crouched down, I in the backseat and she in the front. I remember just crouching there for a while, trying to stay low and also sort of trying to see what was going on for several minutes. Then, one of the police officers came to the window. It was Maureen, a teacher at my school. It didn't just look like her, it was her. She worked as a police officer on the side, but was still a teacher. Her hair was very, very long, where it is usually short (in a boy cut) and thin, and the difference was very striking to me. She told us that the crooks were looking for our car because they had hidden some goods in it or something, and that we were supposed to go drive around for a while until they had been captured.
We drove for about half an hour, debating a little bit about where to go, since my mom was sure that Maureen had said to stay within 20 minutes of where the officers were, but I wanted to be as far away as possible from the crooks. We drove down into a tunnel at one point, which as we drove turned out to be a (brightly lit) subway tunnel and I told my mom, "I don't think we're supposed to be down here". I was a little worried about a subway coming and not being able to stop in time. We surfaced again, and were out of the car walking up out of the subway, and a man was standing near the doors and he said to us, "What are you doing here?"
"Nothing," I said, and he just looked at me sarcastically and kept saying, "Nothing? Really?" and I was worried that he was somehow affiliated with the bad guys. We went back to the car and I called the police station and asked to speak to Maureen, and told the dispatch the situation, but she wouldn't connect us and told us just to stay away. We stopped at a donut shop or small restaurant and after a bit, Colson and Fox and about 5 other people came in. They were all walking very briskly with their heads down. Fox said, "Come on", abruptly but quietly as they were passing, and I followed them (my mom wasn't with me anymore) through a door in the back of the restaurant. I had the impression that they were also involved in all this trouble.
In the back part of the restaurant, we walked down a whole series of corridors and stairs and Fox kept saying "Come on!" and I was trying to walk, but for some reason I could only take very little steps. Finally, we got to the basement, and Mike went through one doorway and closed the door, and Fox led the rest of us into a second room. It was a small room with wood panelling, a TV, a couple of chairs, two beds and a television. James was sitting on one bed, staring at his feet, and Lucas was on the other. I had the impression that Colson had done something bad and everyone who was associated with him was hiding out here; they had been there a while. I sat next to Lucas and put my arms around him. I was scared about the whole situation.
Later, I was on the computer looking up Master's programs and wondering how I could go to school if I was supposed to be hiding in this room.
