Gintama, by Sorachi Hideaki is a goofy, wacky, sometimes vulgar, occasionaly serious story about a samurai with a wooden sword and a natural perm, the leader of a pop idol's fanclub, a sukonbu lover who fights with an umbrella and a big white dog. And the Shinsengumi. Here's what
wikipedia has to say.
The main character, Gintoki, or Gin-chan, is a freelancer with a laid-back attitude (especially about his rent). Although he was a fierce fighter in the resistance years ago, in the current storyline, he enjoys sitting around reading Weekly Shounen Jump and dreaming about getting a bankai. He does the hero thing, always coming in at the last minute to save the day, although he often does it in a somewhat undignified way. It's all well and good to make profound statements before pulling a man from a burning building, but Gin-chan speaks his words of wisdom upside down with his ass in the air. Yey.
So anyway, this FST is for the only guy who can still be sexy even though he picks his nose a lot, and his love for sugar.
Sorry, Hijikata, there just aren't a lot of songs about mayonaise.
Sugartime, Johnny Cash
Well now sugar in the morning sugar in the evening sugar at suppertime
Be my little sugar and love me all the time
Although this song is actually about a person he's calling "sugar" and "honey," imagine it being sung to sugar and honey. It's funnier that way.
I Want Candy, Bow Wow Wow
I know a guy who's tough but sweet
He's so fine, he can't be beat
He's got everything that I desire
Sets the summer sun on fire
I want candy, I want candy
Okay, so just imagine Sa-chan leading the Gintoki fangirls through all the verses and Gin-chan piping up with the "I want candy" parts.
Sugar Town, Nancy Sinatra
I got some troubles but they won't last
I'm gonna lay right down here in the grass
And pretty soon all my troubles will pass
'cause I'm in shu-shu-shu, shu-shu-shu
Shu-shu, shu-shu, shu-shu Sugar Town
Yes, if only Gin-chan could live in Sugar Town! He'd be in pure bliss!
BONUS TRACK FOR PAAKO: Sugar Daddy, Hedwig and the Angry Inch
I've got a sweet tooth
for licorice drops and jelly rolls,
Hey sugar daddy,
Hansel needs some sugar in his bowl.
I'll lay out fine china on the linen
And polish up the chrome
If you've got some sugar for me,
Sugar Daddy, bring it home.
Just change "Hansel" to "Paako." Everyone loves Gin-chan's unwillingly created alter-ego Paako! She can't dance, but she has her priorities straight.
