Title: Make Me Think (But Don't Deceive Me)
Rating: PG.
Fandom/Pairing: The Big Bang Theory. Bernadette / Amy, slightly, with mentions of the epicness that is the Amy / Berny / Penny ladybromance.
Spoilers: Er, not in particular?
Warnings: First attempt at BBT fic, and a poor one, undoubtedly.
Summary: Amy is fascinated by the things that Penny and Bernadette take for granted. It's -- cute.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Big Bang Theory, nor do I own Maroon 5's song "If I Never See Your Face Again."
a/n: For the
femslash100drabblethon. Prompt was: The Big Bang Theory, Bernadette/Amy, wide-eyed. though it could fit for the prompt "smart", too, i guess, which totally escaped my notice until i posted it. whoops.
She’s smart - brilliant - but she never loses that wonderment. She never loses that gleam of surprise, or that sparkle of interest, that invades her eyes when she sees the world - the real world, Penny says, but that’s not quite right; Amy’s world is just as real as anyone else’s, just as tangible, and exciting - in all its dingy, morally-questionable, and remarkable glory.
Bernadette likes that the most about Amy. She likes going out with her (and Penny), and seeing the way that Amy, despite knowing so much about everything, never gets tired of witnessing things first-hand. (Even things that would scar any other person for life.)
Amy is smug about her intelligence, in the stilted way of a person who’s never needed to be told that there’s something extraordinary about her, and she has every right to be. But she still accepts, on some level, that there are things to shock and astound her; things that are new, and unfamiliar. Amy is always prepared for those events, with her eyes wide and curious behind thick glasses.
And Bernadette is always prepared to watch the way that Amy visibly takes her mental notes about the intricacies of social interaction, and smile.
