Health

I've got a new nurse practitoner. Her name is Marilyn and she is great. She did a battery of tests on me and discovered that I suffer from high blood pressure and problems with cholesterol. I'm my mother's daughter. We are the same, in fact all the females in my family are the same. So I'm on Lisiniprol for the blood pressure.

I will go to see Dr. Dole at 2 today for my cholesterol. I'm walking over there. It's close. He's the Herpetologist. He will probably lecture me on the dangers of eating too much fat and carbs. I have more or less put myself on the South Beach Diet. Not exactly, but I am copying it to some degree. No more fattening foods, lots of greens, low carb bread, skim milk that sort of thing. I am going to have a piece of turkey and some sides and a tiny piece of pumpkin pie with some skim milk whipped topping...no matter what. I love the food so will enjoy it even if it's a bit fattening. I can be very disciplined in that respect. The part that I find hard is the exercising. My right leg has been bugging me and it makes it hard to walk. I take Ginger for a 30 minute promenade round the neighbourhood which is good because she is over weight too.

I have also started taking bio-identical hormones. These are for the menopause and Marilyn tells me once I've dropped more weight they work amazingly well. I have to go all the way over to Highland Pharmacy for them, but that's because no one in the city prepares this compound but Highland. Frank is the Pharmacist and a really nice fellow. Was very helpful by telling me about Marilyn. I had a mammogram, have a pinhead sized cyst in me left breast, but it's fine, no cancer. My mom had this too, so no surprise here. Other then all that stuff I'm fine.

I was sorry to hear that Lovelace Hospital is closing next year. It was so handy to have it close by. Oh well. The Women's Health Center up on Montgomery is staying put I hope, so I will just go there instead. Besides, Marilyn's office is some blocks down from there so that's handy for me.
