Durian crème puffs.
Crème puffs fall under a sub-category of treats that uses choux pastry for its shell. The filling can range from ice-cream, to cream cheese, or the more traditional corn custard filling, or for my case - durian custard. We had some leftover durians from last week that had to be used, so we settled on making some profiteroles. Now, the last time I made these was probably a year ago when I had more leisure time to burn. As a result, I've kinda forgotten how to make them after glancing at mom's recipe book. They turned out alright afterall, so I'm really thankful. 5-6 eggs go into the choux pastry itself, so you can imagine how hearty these crème puffs really are.
I love how they retain its shape after it has been left to cool. Usually if the oven temperature isn't optimal, the choux pastry loses its volume and puffiness after exposure to room temperature. Mom was in charge of the durian custard filling, so she doubled the amount of durian pulp, making this the ULTIMATE durian crème puff. While munching on one just now, I could literally feel the durian fibers in my mouth. These are an awesome treat for durian lovers, all 6 of us are, so half of them are happily digesting in our tummies now :)
And so, as is customary with most of my baking posts, a pic-spam is definitely mandatory. It gives me a sort of satisfaction, seeing all of you drool in front of your computer screens, makes all that effort worthwhile, really. My foodies are exhibitionists that way. On to my current obsession - V.O.S, it was during the Kpop Night concert that I fell in love with their vocals. They sang Live, and blew us away. Their latest 3.5 album kicks ass. And why is it that I can never seem to catch up with these korean drama releases? I'm so behind on my downloading schedule as it is, and now Triple has begun airing. Gotta finish downloading The Slingshot, Shining Inheritance and The Accidental Couple stat.
