I've somehow managed to delete all my music files from my MP3 player! 7GB of my finest tunes gone up in smoke!

(I should be relieved that the player itself is still sound, and that I can at least put some music back onto it from CDs tonight, but I've got so used to just having it at my fingertips. It's hard not to feel horribly bereft.)

My beloved MP3 player went belly-up last night, and I have realised that working through mindless paperwork with nothing to listen to is going to be completely unbearable.

So can anyone recommend a good, mid-price MP3 player? I don't need anything fancy - just something that will hold all my music.

Any comments much appreciated.

A man is sitting in the lotus position in the street outside my flat, singing Smiths songs in mournful tones. They echo off the other buildings in this narrow street, accompanied by the wailing of gulls.
