I rather suspected as much after running the text through some Machint Translation software I had around the place, and seeing what sort of structure and vocabulary the writer was probably using... but MT is very much a guidline only - it can only translate according to formulae as it doesn't have a brain and hence no actual understanding or appreciation of what it reads - certainly no substitute for a human being's understanding.
Isn't it shiny and gorgeous? And if I'd just studied Russian instead of the things I ended up doing... well, I'd be a completely different person, but at least I'd be able to appreciate the story properly...
(Russian really was an option for a while. But you can't have everything.)
