I actually had a really long today. Before going to work I went to go sign up for driving lessons. The receptionist was really sweet & helpful. She had this motherly aura that I really liked. Just the sound of her voice was comforting. I officially start my lessons on Monday. To be honest, I can't wait. I am getting so sick & tired of relying on other people to take me places or asking for a ride. My older brother told me that it's important to learn how to drive because our parents aren't getting any younger & also he'd have someone to call to pick him up when he's drunk at a party. This guy.

Saturday's are usually my longest day of the week 'cause I work from 12:30pm till 8:30pm. I only signed up for a Saturday shift because you make really good tips. Today was really eventful shift.
I was tending to 2 ladies on table 3. When I gave them extra cups of ice, one of them said: "Oh! Bless you! You're like a Vegan Jesus. The version of Jesus that didn't eat the fish." I never laughed so hard on a Saturday afternoon shift. Then when they left, I opened the check book & on the receipt it read "Thx!! Vegan Jesus." I adore moments like those. When I get to make a connection with customers like that.
I also really love it when strangers who sit next to each other become acquaintances. Since the tables in the restaurant are really close to each other, there is little personal space. This family consisting of a father & his 2 teenage sons sat next to the ladies who called me Jesus. They instantly connected. As it turns out, the older gentleman runs a funeral service. He overheard me talking to my co-worker & mentioned it. He was asking me how I came to my decision to want to become an undertaker and why was I drawn to such a career. I would of loved to have his business card or some type of information however, I was interrupted by a lady who was asking me if I was the manager of the establishment.
I tell her that I'm not. She then proceeds to tell me that the store is going to get a ticket because it didn't have a permit posted on the front that we have an independent garbage company that picks up the store's wastes. First off, how the fuck am I suppose to know all these technicalities when I'm not a fucking manager. I offered to call my boss so she can directly speak to her & explain the situation in detail because I really didn't know why we were getting a ticket. She insisted that she does not do speak to people on the phone & that she deals with whom ever is in the store. No matter how much I tried to figure a way to try to prove to her that we do have a company that picks up the store's garbage, she wouldn't have it. Fuck her. Spoiling my hour.
Later, a man came in with a big box. At first, I thought it was a drink delivery & then he introduced himself. He worked at a frozen yogurt place 3 or 4 stores down from ours. He came in & just gave the staff free frozen yogurt. We were all beyond thrilled!

After work, I decided I was going to actually go in & buy some frozen yogurt. Just 'cause I forgot mine at work & I was too lazy to go walk back 2 stores. LOL. Plus, I could add fruit! I guess something was wrong with the register & they called in the manager. The manager just told me to take it, free of charge. It was so wonderful!
I also finally finished reading Tuesday's with Morrie. It was so bittersweet. It really made me think about the relationships I have with my family & people. It makes you think on what's really important & that getting caught up on material things doesn't really do much for you.
I haven't decided if I want to read The Bell Jar by Silvia Plath or The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger.

Listen.
