Fucking sucks. Every year I cry on my birthday. EVERY year. I'm scared about everything, I'm scared about losing everything, I'm scared of being screwed over, I'm scared about being alone, I'm scared about being involved in things that I don't want to be involved in, I'm scared because I can never seem to do anything right, I'm scared because I don ( Read more... )

Advice from an ol' lady cindylouwho88 May 12 2005, 22:34:03 UTC
It's hard to remember that 20 years ago this month I was gearing up to graduate from high school. My life lay before me like a carpet. I honestly don't remember being scared, just anxious and curious about where I was going to go and what I was going to do with my life. But just let me share a few things I've learned in my 20 (argh) years as an adult on the planet.

1. We women are a fickle lot. We can be the best of friends and the most bitter enemies. Don't take any bad stuff too personal. It's not always about you although somebody elses issue may come out AT you.

2. I've found that the only times I am "alone" are when I choose to be. When people make an uneventful or sometimes noisy exit from my life, someone else comes along to fill in the hole. Relationships begin and end, sometimes good and sometimes bad, but they ALL contribute to who we are as individuals.

3. Say what you mean and mean what you say. I've found that the more authentic about who I am and what I'm about, the more people respect me, even if they don't agree with me.

4. And last but not least, everything is about balance. Appreciate all the good, bad and ugly times in your life. That really is LIVING.

Ok, not sure you wanted all that, but hey, it's LJ and you're liable to get anybody lookin in here. Maybe you just wanted a hug? So, from this freaky, queer, bi-sexual old lady to you ~hug~
