The feeling of his hands on her body had been intense. She remembered every thrilling detail. Pretending to be asleep, she waited for him to leave. The breathing against her neck became rhythmic. He was staying. Her heart, which was made of cold hard steel, warmed slightly.

He said he would contact her soon. She rolled her eyes. “I had a good time too, Potter. But let’s not lie about what this was.” He kissed on the cheek and left. She wished he hadn’t. The heat in her chest grew stronger.

She was in the bath when he knocked on her door. “I was out flying and thought I’d stop by.” She invited him in. He spent the night.

Harry began showing up at her door often, broomstick in hand. She asked him why he liked to fly so much. “It helps me. When I’m flying, I can forget about her.” Pansy didn’t ask who it was he wanted to forget and just gave him a key to her flat.

“Pansy, you’re great, you know that.” His hands poured over her body as he gave her a long slow kiss. With each touch, each whisper in her ear, she felt her heart soften; the steel becoming thinner and more malleable.

On her birthday, he took her to dinner. It was the first time they’d ever left her flat together. They got a quiet table in the back. She pretended it was romantic, ignoring the feeling that he was hiding her. Harry rushed her home before dessert.

Pansy smiled as she opened the door. Her heart was so light she could barely feel it, except for the intense heat it gave off whenever he was near. Taking her hand gently, he pressed the cold metal key into her palm. “I’ve meet someone. She's really great and ... this was fun, but it has to stop.” Her heart, now made of glass, shattered.
