Hello Dolly-or where to find flesh-colored spray paint

Ah well, NaNo may be a bust this year, unless I hit a 10,000 word lick very soon.  The mess that is my house is impinging upon my muse, as well as the fact that my dolly muse has locked my writing muse in the closet.

I'll try to get some pictures linked up here soon.  My first ball-jointed doll is finally being costumed.  She has some painting issues still to be resolved, and I have to set her new eyes in when they come, but she's wigged and more or less face painted.

For those who unlike Altariel are not in the know, I have been trying during this last year of unemployment to learn to sculpt dolls.  I actually have messed with dolls all my life, though I was never a collector.  I made costumes for my little Trolls is 4th grade, did some Barbie costumes when I was older, made a set of little medieval cloth dolls when I got out of college.  And I have a Legolas Ken doll.  Would love to have the Barbie Aragorn and Arwen, but they're too pricey.  But I don't collect Barbies in general, just like to look at them.

Anyway, after a year of messing with first polymer clay and then stone clay, I finally have a couple of dolls ready to finish!  This first one is going to be a fairy (she has elf ears) and the other that is ready to paint is going to be a little Victorian girl.  The big problem has been finding the right paint for them.  I experimented with brush-on acrylic and was extremely dissatisfied.  A doll site said use auto primer, then spray paint, so I got some almond color and painted this first girl.  Unfortunately, the almond looks yellowish-and she's not an oriental doll.   Rather than try to repaint her, I decided to go with that for the fairy theme and she is being costumed in teal and gold.

Real people, however, need flesh-colored flesh.  This started quite a search.  Martha Stewart has some spray paint that might have served, only the reviews saying it was the worst stuff on the planet stopped me.  Eventually, the Holy Grail was achieved on a graffiti artists' website.  Sent off for a couple of colors and the spray tips.  It was very interesting-you buy the cans and tips separately.  You can get wide-spraying tips and skinny tips.  Learned something new that day.

At present, my priorities are-get these dolls up on Etsy for sale, find a job, get the house ready for the holidays.  NaNo is on the list right after that.  Fanfiction has been dropped clear to the bottom, which means you'll probably see some more fanfiction soon-that's the way that usually works...
