Sesshomaru led Kagome away from the well grasping her hand after soundly dropping her spelled backpack with undisguised contempt.

Kagome blushed and wasn't quite sure if it was from the warmth of his large hand enveloping hers or from the kind of embarrassment only family can bring. She was feeling mortified to know her family had been listening in when she had felt so vulnerable in his arms.

Her mind wandered as Sesshomaru brought her deeper and deeper into the forest with unknown purpose. She wasn't considering where he was taking her because her stomach was in knots over what she needed to tell him. Seeing him there waiting for her at the well had pushed all thoughts of the spell her grandfather had done to her out of her mind. All she could feel was surprise and overwhelming happiness seeing him. Her emotions had got the better of her logical mind. Her thoughts, now a tad clearer knew she couldn't put off telling Sesshomaru everything. She had wanted to let her friends know she was ok but at this moment nothing seemed more important than being honest with Sesshomaru.

Tears began to trickle down her cheek. Would he still love her once he knew the truth? Would he feel manipulated? Would he blame her? Would he think she had been a part of it? That she had known all along and had meant to trap him? Or worse that she had meant to trap Inuyasha into loving her and got his older brother instead? She let out a strangled sob bringing the back of her free hand to her mouth.

Sesshomaru froze and turned to face her. Letting go of her fingers he brought his hand to her face feeling her wet tears coat his palm.

They had stopped in one of the many but well hidden small open spots found in forests. A few dead trees were becoming one with the ground, leaving the area clear for bits of sunshine to peak though the canopy to help the tiny, newest trees to take their place.

Sesshomaru did not care that her tears had begun to drip down his wrist as he watched the light sway over her hair from the gentle movements of the still standing trees.

“Tell me.”

Kagome's red eyes looked into his worried ones.

“You don't love me. It was all a lie.”
