A butterfly, so gentle and fragile. Their wings, colorful and beautiful yet symmetrical. I admire such beauty, it is quite stunning.

She is also beautiful, quite I might add. Yet she is reserved, never once handing out unnesscery civility. She is what I define perfection. She has a beautiful body and well-rounded personality. I’ve heard that she is a wonderful artist and that she loves books. Rumors whisper that she enjoys a good walk. What perfection!

I’ve also heard that many men have gone after her yet none say that she ever told any of these men more than a firm no. Not only will I be presented with a challenge but also I shall win quite a marvelous prize. This one is indeed happy to gain her.

“Sango, my sister, I tire of men always throwing themselves at me. I wish for a companion that does not want me because of my beauty but because of who I am,” said Kagome to her sister.  Sango had heard her sister complain quite often of men and their ways. Sango was not quite as picky as her sister, although she did turn men down as well.

“Kagome, to men beauty and money is all. To find a man that admires spirit or personality, you will have to go far out of you way. But I shall deign myself to say that I too wish for a man that admires me for me. However shall I find such a man, I will point him in your direction. It would be much too dishonourable for the younger sister to marry before the elder,” said she.

“Yes, yes, my darling sister is quite right. Now sister, it is time that we prepare for the ball tonight. I wish to look my very best and we both know that that shall take much time,” she said with a hearty laugh. Sango laughed with her, a smile covering the young woman’s face.

“Yes, you are right sister. We should look our very best this evening and we both shall find men that admire us because of personality instead of looks. It will be a wonderful evening indeed.”

The two girls ran off to their respective dressing rooms, giggling and smiling like they had not a worry in the world. Their servants dressed them in beautiful gowns of gold and green and pink and black. Each girl wore the gowns with dignity, each proud to be of the standing they were.

The ball they were attending that evening was none other than Mr. Hanshino’s ball. All knew that he preferred to be called Miroku. His balls were always grand and magnificent, a real treat if you were invited. Kagome’s family was acquainted with his and they three, Sango, Kagome and Miroku, were all great friends.

It was known to Kagome that her sister Sango was hopelessly in love with him. Kagome did not understand Sango’s love for him but cheered her sister on anyways.

“Tonight Sango, you shall capture Miroku with your stunning beauty,” said Kagome.

“But Kagome, I cannot do that. If Miroku likes me then he shall be the one to make the first move. Sister you know how dishonourable it would be if I made the first move,” said Sango.

“But sister, knowing Miroku you shall have to be the one to make the first move if you wish to be able to call yourself Mrs. Hanshino one day.”

“Sister I beg the to stop, it is quite embarrassing what you say. Although I wish for that, we both know that that is most unlikely. Miroku is too much of a man for the ladies to ever consider settling down.”

“We are here Sango, I shall leave you with Miroku and dear lord if you have not tried to make him partial to you then I shall have your head,” said the elder sister before stepping out of the carriage.

“Ah, my ladies, you’ve arrived. It has been quite some time since our last meeting hasn’t it?” said Miroku with a smile as he greeted them at the door.

“It has,” said Kagome.

“Darlings I wish to introduce you to a fine friend of mine Mr. Nakamura. We met while I was in Scotland because of business. I told him much about you two and he said that you both sounded like wonderful young ladies,” he said while walking them over to a man with silver hair. “Mr. Nakamura these are my friends I was talking to you about. This one,” he said pointing to Kagome, “is the elder Miss Hina and the one beside her,” he said pointing to Sango, “is the younger Miss Hina.”

“It is a pleasure to meet you both. From what Miroku says, it sounds as if you have wonderful personalities,” he said with a pleasant smile. The girls curtsied and Kagome shooed Sango and Miroku off.

“My sister is highly fond of Miroku but she is too embarrassed to say anything,” said Kagome once the two were away.

“Miroku spoke quite highly of your sister. I foresee a marriage in the future,” he said in a colder voice then the one he had used before.

“Well then it sounds much more likely than we believed before.”

“I will be blunt about this,” Mr. Nakamura said, turning Kagome around to face him. “I came away from business with Miroku just to meet you. He spoke highly of you both and your personality, the one he told me of, sounded quite nice.”

“Oh my,” cried Kagome in surprise. “Is what you say true?”

“Take a walk with me and I shall tell you the full of it,” said he.

“But men like you are said to be most dangerous and I wish not to be harmed.”

“Silence dear, I swear I shall not harm you.”

“All right Mr. Nakamura,” she said hesitantly. Most men were not as blunt as this man but then again, they knew all they wanted her for was because of her beauty whereas this man wanted her because of her personality. It made Kagome quite conflicted.

He explained as they strolled through the garden, leaving Kagome in state of surprise. His reason for being blunt was because that he was in need of an heir and he believed that she had a much better personality for being a mother. He informed her that he thought her beauty quite nice but did not find it his only reason. He offered her his hand and Kagome was much too confused to realize that she had accepted.

“I shall have the details ironed out soon but perhaps I should meet your parents soon,” he wondered aloud.

“No, dear lord you cannot because you should know that my parents are dead. My brother is the only reason that we still have the house we have,” said Kagome.

“Well then, things shall be ironed out as soon as possible and then it shall be settled.”

That is how I managed to capture my butterfly and although it took some time for her to truly trust this Sesshomaru, she managed to in the long run. Sadly, it was not as challenging as I’d hoped but it was a good prize that I achieved.

“Love? What are you writing?” said Mrs. Nakamura. Sesshomaru eyes flicked to his wife, her smiling face reminding him of the sun.

“I am writing of our meeting. Come here dear, I will need some refreshers. It appears that in my old age I’ve forgotten some details,” said Sesshomaru while patting his leg. Kagome blushed madly at his suggestive behaviour.

“I do not know, I think I shall go and play with Rin. And for future referance, you are only thirty and three years,” she said, backing away.

“Our daughter is fine playing with her brother. Come here,” ordered he.

“Alright darling, I did not mean to upset you,” said she walking over to her husband. She sat in his lap and within minutes she was enjoying what they were doing. Maybe at first things had gone much too quickly but now she found that she was glad she had not had the time to think for surely she would have refused this man who made her so happy, even if the majority of the time he remained indifferent.
