It has a name

Thank you to everyone who congratulated me and said the car was shiny, I'm totally in love with it.

Shinycar has been christened Trinity. Let me give you the thought progression :  Car is scion------->Scion is city in the Matrix>hot chick in matrix>Trinity

I'm a simple person, really, lol.

In other news I'm up here in Rochester with Lea. She told me to come up at 3 yesterday, got off of work at 4, called US Air ways and was at the airport by 6:30.

Calling US Airways made me painfully cosncious of the fact that I have no legal relationship to Lea. I told them my partner's mother was dying and I needed to change my ticket, the rep said that unless I was related to the person by blood or marriage I wasn't eligible for bereavement ticket prices. I'm also not eligible for any sort of bereavement leave at work, again, must be related by blood or marriage. I'm more pissed about the lack of support from my work's policies. For a workplace that has so many LGBT employees, even some at the executive level, you'd think they'd offer more support for domestic partners, but they don't.  On the other hand, Lea's workplace which is dominated by the straight white people, offers full benefits for domestic partners. *

I'd really like to get legal paperwork in place to protect us in case of emergencies, or even in non-emergencies. I've made Lea the beneficiary for my life insurance, my 401K and my accidental death and dismemberment, but I can't think of what else we'd need to do. I think it's too soon for power of attorney, but then again, I'll have to talk it over with her.

Navigating the legal system  as a Lesbian really sucks.

*the only reason there isn't a rant here about not being able to legally marry in the eyes of the feds is b/c I'm too tired to write it. Consider this asterisk to be a rant.
