I has a car, and it's not a POS!!!!!!!!!
It was a bit of a struggle to circumvent the stereotypical white used car financial guy (down to the micro-checked black and white tweed jacket). But we did it. After deciding that we really didn't like White Guy or his 8.29% interest rate we took my parents' advice and dashed over to the credit union 45 minutes before they closed. Mr White Guy nay-sayed us telling us it was too late, that they wouldn't stay to help us and that we wouldn't get a better rate from him. I had to fight the urge not to look him in the eye and go "watch me."
So we got to the credit union after a mad dash up Broad Street and a hurried phone call to get approved. The credit union gave us a rate that almost 3 percentage point lower than White Guy's and they stayed late to do it. Can I just say I adore my bank hard core. Everyone there is so amazingly helpful and explains things in a way I can understand and process (if you ever want to see me be utterly stupid, watch me do something that involves financing). Lea and I figured out the core difference between the Credit Union and White Guy. The Credit Union was trying to help me get the best deal for me, while White Guy was trying get me the best deal for him.
We smugly took the check over to the dealership at 5:45 and I very maturely did not wave it at White Guy and go "neener neener neener". We signed lots of paperwork and I had a car!
I am now the proud new owner of a 2006 Toyota Scion XB
And that's not just a stock photo, that's a picture of my car at the dealership.
