kim has this effect on me
bakakim threw some books at me while I was at her place. I started and finished Skellig by David Almond today. It's really nice. :] I practiced some speed reading tips I got online. Yes, speed reading. Kim's fault. She kicked my ass so badly while we read Breaking Dawn, it's shameful as an English major that I read so slowly. I'm kind of bad with the whole speed reading thing. One of the tips say that you shouldn't re-read things because it's an unnecessary habit. I found out that it is mostly necessary for me. They also said to try moving an index card down the page as you read, but I'm much too slow to do that. Fack. :(
So, at the moment I'm continuing where I left off in The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I can't manage to read any faster than I already do. It's like I'm doomed to lag behind my peers. D:
I also borrowed Wuthering Heights from Kim. I hated it in school. However, reading Eclipse made me want to give it a second chance. I still don't like it. I finished 4 chapters. I'm exceptionally slow reading this. I'm also using SparkNotes as a guide in case I don't understand what's going on, which is likely. I'm really forcing myself because I should be more familiar with classic novels than I am.
Alright ... onto reading The Hitchhiker's Guide! I've claimed this book to be my favourite for a long time but I never actually finished the series. Go figure.
