Titanic?

Sep 03, 2010 12:41

So I finished Season 3 of Doctor Who. Martha is totally awesome in every possible way. But there's a promise at the end of Last of the Time Lords to return at Christmas with the Titanic crashing into the TARDIS. Donna makes reference to it at the beginning of Season 4, but so far the Christmas invasion has always been the first episode. So. What do I have to watch to get this little missing bit about the Titanic? I assume it's one of the specials but there doesn't seem to be a reference to it on Netflix.

Also, I notice that Season 4's publish date is 2007 and Season 5, 2010. Then there are a bunch of specials from 2008 and 2009 and one of them introduces the Eleventh Doctor. I've been told before that I don't need to worry about the specials, but surely that doesn't apply to these does it? I mean, I'm probably going to watch them all (at least all the ones on Netflix) but they aren't all on instant. Which ones are critical? Must they be watched in order? Also I have heard bad things about some of them (I remember when Planet of the Dead came out it seemed like everybody hated it? Somebody at the time told me not to watch it). But are any of them a combination of bad and non critical to the plot in a way that makes them skippable?

I've still got Season 4 to go through, but them I'm gonna hit a wall with what's available and them I'm gonna crash and flail around desperately for anything tangentially related.

Of course I do have the first disc of Eureka season 2 here. And I suppose there's always Torchwood to start in on. I mentioned on Twitter a while back that I wanted to hug the Face of Bo. Because the Face of Bo is (much like Martha) awesome in every possible way. Now, with revelations from the end of Season 3 I love him even more. It would certainly explain why he was hanging around with the pretty cat nurse.

Anyway. In other British TV show news, I have finished Kingdom (finally) and it was so good! So sad that it didn't get renewed. Of course that doesn't always mean much with the BBC. They could pick it up again in 2 or 5 or 20 years. But I've started reading Making History (only into the second chapter but totally brilliant so far) so I can get a good solid Stephen Fry fix from there. Stephen Fry would be a good Doctor.

Now I need to go practice my ten key typing so I can get my speed up and apply for several better paying jobs with better hours than the one I'm working now. Then I need to feed my chickens. And hey! Hurray for safe eggs.

ETA: Aha! I found it! For some reason Voyage of the Damned is only available on disc, even though the entire rest of the season is streaming on instant.
