Oh, how much do I love these! It always amazes me the backstory that so many writers build up above and beyond the canon of the show itself, that make the characters take on such realistic traits.

I didn't set out to create a consistent canon, it just kind of happened. I think it's John ... he seems so real to me that when I hit on something about him that works for me (especially about his relationship with Mary), it seems like it actually happened to him rather than being something I can change in another story if I want to.

And, BTW ... have you yet? Cause I really wanna start pointing my finger and going "looky, looky, looky!" :D

I thought I was going to DIE when those photos came out. I actually based it on something my nephew used to do when he was ten-ish (a LOT of what wee!Sammy does is based on my nephew ... he's a hoot), but seeing Jared's version, I was ... oh HELL yeah. :D

I never actually wrote a fic about 15, but I referenced it in We Were Like Family Once. I figured there must be some story behind John's falling out with Elkins, and the one I created for THE SHINE was AU, so I needed something that could convince him to not mend fences with someone he was pretty sure had a line on that colt ...
