Scandal!

So, first I started streaming Parenthood through Neflix and I LOVE it! I adore their whole dysfunctional functional family. Ad who would have ever thought I'd like Dax Shepherd - I mean, the Punk'd guy? But I love his character so much! And the kid who plays Max deserves a freaking Emmy! It's so easy to mainline too. But I figured I should take a break and watch a season of something else before I go back to Parenthood.

I tried Bitten, from D's recommendation. I did not like it. First of all, the idea that there aren't very many female werewolves because they aren't strong enough to survive the 'change'? I call bullshit. Do you know what women have to endure with our stupid bodies? So sexist, man. And also, Clay wishes he was Dyson Thornwood. But he isn't. I watched four eps and quit that. Then I decided to try Scandal, per Guy Therapist's recommendation when we were talking about wanting more female leads and 3-dimensional female characters. I am IN LOVE with this show. It's giving me the fresh new shiny toy feeling of love!

Since Guy Therapist is working at the other clinic these days, I decided to pop him an email and tell him exactly how I felt about this show he recommended. For your reading pleasure, here is my freak-out...

YOU!

I've started watching Scandal, per your recommendation. And I love it! And I hate you! Because omg, every person on this show that I'm like, "I love that guy!" turns out to be a sleazy scum or a murderer or a torturer or covers up evidence or...omg. Fucking Cyrus and Billy and just...please, tell me District Attorney David does not turn out to be a scummy dude, okay. My heart can't handle it.

On the other end, you were right about how much I would love Olivia Pope. Kerry Washington has chemistry with everyone. Like, EVERYONE. Every person she has an interaction with, I am all, "She should hit that." Like, she has chemistry with her office door. She should totally tap her office door. But also, she's isn't this perfect character, you know? She's got so many issues, man. And generally the one and only thing a character can do to completely turn me off of them is to cheat/sleep with a married person, like...committing violent felonies isn't a deal breaker, but generally adultery is...but somehow they have made me love Olivia Pope anyways.

And Harrison! Omg, I am in love. That's my man! And Huck is like this big ol murdering special ops teddy bear and I just want to hug him but I won't because he clearly doesn't like to be touched. The representation on this show is great too...like her team is made up of all POC and women and WOC and then Stephen. Lone Stephen as the only white guy on the screen like 80% of the time. This show comes off as a great cross between The West Wing (in my top 5 favorite shows of all time) and Leverage (in my top 5 most watched shows of all time). Like the fast paced, political intrigue, walk n talk attitude is SO West Wing. And the group of misfits trying to redeem themselves by any means necessary is what I love about Leverage. The whole 'family we make' theme with Olivia's team!

In conclusion: WHY DID YOU TELL ME TO WATCH THIS AWESOME WONDERFUL SHOW? I'M FREAKING OUT, IT'S SO GOOD!

Hope you are doing good and that the east side isn't wooing you over forever. - *Dodger*

For all my West Wing peeps out there, I highly recommend Scandal, available now on Netflix!

stalking is a valid career, social issues, leverage - the a-team 2.0, my girls, tv show blahblahblahing, that's why they call it a workout, the west wing gives me love, fannish joy, pimping is a good life choice, werewolves bite, lost girl the series
