Favorite movies from my childhood

I wasn't athletic as a kid, and preferred the world of the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew to playing outdoors in the bright hot sun. Must be why my metabolism has slowed down so much huh? ;) Anyway, I thought I'd write a post about my favorite movies then. We even bought Betamax tapes of these movies, but who has a Betamax player anymore? Good thing there's Youtube, I can watch these clips and reminisce about those innocent and carefree days.

The Chipmunk Adventure
Singing chipmunks (and Chipettes) traveling around the world in hot-air balloons! Only very gullible kids would think that was possible. I was one of those kids and I thought this was the most fantastic movie ever. I even memorized the words to all the songs. My favorites were Girls of Rock and Roll, and Off To See the World. One question remains in my mind though: did Dave adopt Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, or are they his sons? Anyway, if you liked this movie too, someone actually uploaded it on Youtube in two parts, here and here :)

Sleeping Beauty
Forget Aurora and her prince. My favorite scenes involved the three fairy godmothers. One was quiet and kind (I think her name was Flora) but the two others (I know one was named Fauna but the 3rd name escapes me at the moment) quarreled over everything. On Aurora's 18th birthday they try to clean the house, bake a birthday cake, and design and sew a dress fit for a princess all without using magic, same as how they've done everything the past 18 years (they raised Aurora in a little cottage in the forest to keep her safe from the witch, who used to terrorize my imagination by the way). Their attempts end up in failure so they use magic anyway, and argue over the color of the dress - at the end of the movie they're still arguing, and turn the dress pink, then blue, then pink, then blue again while Aurora and the prince are dancing in front of the entire court. This scene with the dancing animals is cute too!

Bedknobs and Broomsticks
I liked this more than the TV show Bewitched :) This movie made me want to go to London and see Portobello Road, because anything and everything a chap can unload, is sold off the barrow (or is it barrel?) at Portobello Road. I also loved the songs in this movie. Come to think of it, all three of these movies are musical right? With the characters singing during the important scenes, and elaborate dance numbers. My taste in movies is more Filipino than I thought.
