She still needs me

Annika has turned from a lazy baby who waited until her 6th month to roll over, into an escape artist and a giggling, tumbling bundle of energy. She can crawl from one end of the living room to the other in three seconds flat, and has started cruising - for my younger friends who aren't fluent in babyverse, that's holding on to furniture while walking - and I couldn't be more proud.

At night though, it's a different story. In the dark bedroom, she leans her head on my shoulder and I rock her and sing to her until she starts fussing to let me know that she wants to nurse. I lie her down on the bed and she nurses until her belly's full of warm milk, then she pulls off and flops around on the bed. Sometimes she crawls up to the headboard and bangs her head against it (I read about this habit that babies sometimes get but it's still strange seeing her do it). Sometimes she just rolls around, perhaps to release pent-up energy. But she always, always comes back to me before she finally falls asleep.

Sometimes she lays her head on my stomach, and passes out there;
other times she stuffs her head under my arm (yup, in my kilikili) and seems to find that so comforting that she falls asleep;
other times she gives me a hug, then rolls over and turns her back to me, but wiggles and squirms until her little butt's tucked into my stomach and her back's pressed against my chest, spoon-style, and we fall asleep together.

It feels good knowing that she still needs me :)
