TV for babies

Yes, we know it causes autism and ADD; but she's recently taken a liking to the Big Bad TV. She's liked the Baby Einstein puppets for a while, but up until a few weeks ago she didn't stay interested in any other show or cartoon for longer than a few minutes. Now pop in a Sesame Street DVD or turn on the TV at 8am (when the Tweenies are on) and she'll be engrossed in their colorful world. She stretches her arms towards the TV or computer screen, jumps up and down, and cries out as if she thinks the puppets and mascots are her friends; or else she will stay perfectly still and watch them dance and sing, her little face the picture of concentration and seriousness.

Recently we have also discovered a strange effect that MTV and VH1 have on her. Her lola was trying to rock her to sleep in the bedroom but she kept pointing towards the door and fussing while rubbing her eyes; she was obviously tired but wanted to go out. So her lola turned on the TV and sat down cuddling her. After one video from Madonna and a second one from Meatloaf, the Boch was fast asleep. Lola has tried this technique twice more and so far the success rate is 100%. What a strange baby we have!
