Fic: I'm Just Going To Leave These Here

Sep 15, 2012 00:01

Assorted short fictions I wrote a while back, as suggested by various nice people, all Doctor Who, all more or less PG-rated.

Planet Of Sweets
Characters: Sergeant Benton, Captain Yates
Word Count: 100
Summary: Cotton candy mountain

"I've never seen anything so beautiful in my life," enthused Sergeant Benton as he and Captain Yates scaled the pink, fluffy mountain, the sweet surface sticking to their boots and crunching underfoot like freshly-fallen snow. "I'd quite like to stay a while. We could take a marshmallow boat and go punting along the lemon squash river."

"I still think we ought to get out of here as soon as we've rescued the Doctor and the Brigadier from the Castle of Boiled Sweets," replied Yates, flicking a stray fluff of mountain from his shoulder. "I don't like the looks of that jelly velociraptor we passed in the strawberry bootlace forest."

Blood On The Sawdust
Characters: Six, Peri
Word Count: 113
Summary: The Wild West

"You know something, it's kind of neat getting to see a bit of my own country's history first-hand," observed Peri, idly humming a tune strangely familiar to the Doctor as the two surveyed the dusty main road of the quiet town, passing a pair of disinterested horses tethered outside the local saloon. "With riiiiiiings on their fingers, and belllllllls on their toooooooes, the girls come to Tombstone in their hiiiiigh silk hose…"

"Peri, if you sing so much as another bar of that wretched tune," cringed the Doctor, "I swear I will not be held accountable for my actions."

"Jeez, Doctor, it's only a harmless little song," scoffed Peri, rolling her eyes.

The Return To Peladon
Characters: Seven, Ace
Word Count: 88
Summary: Only the best planet EVER

Ace looked on quizzically as the Doctor introduced her to his friend, a rather excitable green person who appeared to be mostly a large green eye and many superfluous limbs.

"So, Alpha, how is Peladon treating you these days?" grinned the Doctor.

"It's so wonderful to see you again, and your lovely friend Princess Ace," enthused Alpha Centauri, hir many arms flailing with delight, "so many things have changed since your last visit to the planet, but I'm sure King Aggador would like to fill you in himself!"

It's Super Effective
Characters: Eleven, Jamie
Word Count: 82
Summary: I should warn you that I don't know the first thing about Pokemon and this was supposed to be in some magic Pokemon land so I just had them playing Pokemon the video game instead, about which I also know nothing.

"How'd you get your player to do that, then?" squinted Jamie, poking frustratingly at the game controller.

"Turns out it's quite simple, really," blustered the Doctor, guiding Jamie's hands into the correct gaming position, "all you have to do is press up, down, up, down, left, right, right, left, A, B, A, B, and start, to choose the creature you want to use in battle, see?"

"You know something, Doctor," Jamie smiled, capturing the Doctor's hands in his own, "I choose you."

The Magic Of Friendship
Characters: Three, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart
Word Count: 113
Summary: Equestria

"You must promise me not to mention this to anyone," warned the Brigadier, using his front hoof to prod with disapproval at his flank.

"My dear Lethbridge-Stewart, have you ever known me to be anything but the soul of discretion?" replied the Doctor, tinkering as best as he could without opposable thumbs at the Time Lords' predictably malfunctioning transformation beam that had been meant to restore their humanoid form now that their contractually obligated mission to rescue the elements of harmony had been accomplished.

"Quite so," agreed the Brigadier, "but I really must protest that my assigned, erm, cutie mark, should be something as undignified as a pile of fluffy bunny rabbits."

Oh, Moon Of Alabama
Characters: Jo Grant, Delgado!Master
Word Count: 129
Summary: Partners-in-crime in 1920s Berlin

"Miss Grant, are you sure this is strictly necessary?" puzzled the Master, tugging uncomfortably at his disguise.

"Trust me, this is going to be perfect," insisted Jo, pressing a small remote control into the Master's hand, "you keep the Chancellor's rapt attention while I break into the safe and retrieve the blueprints for the airship's neutron cannons, then when you reach the grand finale of your performance, you hit the trigger, the explosives go off outside, and we escape round the back entrance while everybody's in a tizzy!"

"Yes, yes, it's quite a flawless little scheme," conceded the Master, "and I'm not averse to using a cabaret as part of our subterfuge, but I'm still not convinced the Chancellor wouldn't rather see you in these fishnet stockings, not me."

On This Harvest Moon
Characters: Sergeant Benton, Captain Yates
Word Count: 93
Summary: Vampires and werewolves

"Well, I wasn't expecting that to happen," sighed a bewildered Sergeant Benton, attempting to cover himself with Captain Yates' too-snug jacket. "How did I lose track of the fact that it was a full moon?"

"I'd say we ought to get a special commendation for taking down that entire invasion force by ourselves," observed Yates, picking a lingering trace of alien from between his fangs. "Fancy a cup of cocoa?"

"Oh, go on then, sir," beamed Benton, watching the last of his full-moon fur disappear from the back of his hand.
