2) has anyone heard things about the women's studies sophomore seminar, gender in history? and/or jennifer tucker?

She was my advisor for the last two years. She's a very nice, sweet, soothing gal, but I have no idea how she is in class. She's on the hipper side of things, from what I can tell, mid to late 30s. Her deal lately has been Victorian conceptions of women and photography.

economics of welfare reform is a 100 level fyi. also, it made my friend annie cry because it was so depressing.

what do you know about econ of developing countries - lower level (Kilby! woo!) and what does " - lower level" mean?

i am so freaking excited about next year, too. wow.

econ of developing countries is probably a lot like what you'll take junior year in econ.. if you choose to take econ in your junior year, that is. so IF kilby is teaching it in two years and IF you take it, you'll be listening to his stories about nigeria twice ( ... )

Based on my Econ 110 experience with Bonin and having heard other people's opinion on Yohe, I would highly suggest Bonin. He's kind of a tough grader, but he IS very consistent, fair, and a genuinely nice/understanding guy when extenuating circumstances crop up. I don't know much about Yohe but people bitched nonstop about his section of 110. Bonin's section was kind of like "...yeah, it's hard, but if Bonin weren't cool it would be a lot worse".

hi matt!
it's good to hear a positive review of bonin. i had yohe for econ of the environment last year, and while he is nice and intelligent and all, he's extremely flakey and lectures at the floor. i ended up with an A in his class after getting a C on the midterm (would've had a perfect score if not for a simple error at the beginning of one of the two problems.. lame), and doing exceptionally little work on a final project about kiwi production in new zealand. that class was absolutely worth taking, because yohe is one of the few real environmental economists on the planet, but i would rather not take another class with him.
so yeah, tough but fair rules.

is there any way to take that class without econ 300? or even econ 110?

eh.. i guess you can't anymore. it used to be 210 with a helpful suggestion that you take 301 first, but that was kind of misleading. i see they've come to their senses and made it a 300-level course.
alas.

The History of World Cinema to WWII-

I took this class my freshman year and I was the writing tutor for it last semester. If you're really interested in film technique, production companies, and Mary Pickford, I'd say it's worth it. It's a tough class, but if you put in the time, you'll do well. But since you plan to take two other gateway courses, I wouldn't recommend it. Also, it eats up a lot of your time (afternoons, especially).

Film 304: interesting, wonderful prof, difficult. I have had a bitch of a time writing film papers, and I'm still not good at it-- and I'm a writer and a film major.

Oh my God, I should be sleeping or working. Enough of this madness.
