Looking for your opinions...
on this thread in atheism.
In effect, someone posted this in the comments, saying "This bitch needs to stfd already", accompanied by an unidentified gif of a man brutally slapping a woman. I was pretty horrified initially, as were quite a few other people.
However, it is revealed a little later on the commenter herself is a woman, and the gif, although unoriginally identified, is from some hilarious comedy. Overall, it was apparently some wonderful "in" joke which the original poster would get.
My question is, does this make it any better? Is it appropriate to post such things on a public forum without any context, or at all? Is objecting to it over-reacting? I'd be interested to hear what all you feminists out there think: you know who you are ;)
