There’s this woman who is living in the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry for 30 days, meeting guests and famous people, hanging around, sleeping in the exhibits, and blogging about it all

Ahhh so jealous of her! No fair. She must work for the museum or something, or set something up with them. Good publicity, either way.
get your pens and pencils ready and yourselves psyched up for the second annual Secret Santa fic/art exchange. I was wondering if that would happen again this year. Oh jeez. I'm excited/nervous/trying to tell myself that no, it is not a good idea to sign up this year. But...but exchanges! I'll think about it. Either way, thank you for volunteering to mod it. :D
I heard her story/interview on NPR today...but I'm not sure if/how she's connected to the museum. My ears perked up when I heard that she was sleeping in the exhibits! I would TOTALLY do that too.
I was wondering too, so I asked steals_thyme if it would happen. She offered it up, if I was willing. I'll take a shot. First step will be to see if there are enough people interested. There were some people last year who were left without gifts. We'll see what happens. But if it goes on, you must do it. I will personally bully your Santa into making sure you get your gift.
My ears perked up when I heard that she was sleeping in the exhibits! It's fun imagining what that'd be like, with the low security lights and everything. Bet it'd get spooky pretty fast.
But if it goes on, you must do it. I will personally bully your Santa into making sure you get your gift. I KNOW I SHOULDN'T BUT I CAN'T RESIST. Also, nooo, if I don't get a gift I will consider it karma coming back around; I still feel guilty for not filling anyone's stocking last year. D: I planned to at least write a drabble for everybody who didn't get a gift, and I didn't write anything at all. /guilt
Woot! Absolutely I'll sign up for the Secret Santa again. :D
Your cats are made of awesome, doing such a good job of taking care of you. Eliminating pests and providing you with food - who could ask for more? ;D
I'm not sure I'd want to stay in a museum overnight like that, especially for so long... my imagination is way too good for me to have any peaceful nights there!
Yay! If we get a reasonable number of people to commit, it'll happen.
I'm so proud; Dory's first kill. My sister's cat is my cats' mother. The first thing I did was text my sis with the family news :) Yes, it does feel good to know that the pest control is taken care of...and I'm ever so glad that 1) they didn't eat it, and 2) they didn't put it in my bed.
Well, I sure wouldn't have stayed over when we had that "Body Works" or "Human Body" exhibit, or whatever it was called. The preserved human bodies. Yeah? No way. But there was this big inflatable planetarium that I was always dying to camp out in... :D
Living in a museum has been a fantasy of all the kids who read the famous 1968 children's book "From The Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler." The story was about a brother and sister who ran away from home and secretly lived in New York city's Metropolitan Museum of Art. :)
Yes; I heard the story about this woman on NPR, and I believe they made reference to that book. But then, they also referenced "Night at the Museum" too. In any case, it's a marvelous idea!
Aha! Kitty vigilance pays off. But ew, mouse blood smears D:
I could do Secret Santa as long as the deadline goes beyond New Year's, since it's starting late. I wouldn't be able to devote much time to it until mid-December and I am a slow writer :|
Hmm, in that case, I don't think I could wander around my bathroom pretending it was my house in front of people. Alone, no problem. If the showroom was suddenly my house, great. But yes, terrific idea -- why not make use of all that living space?!

Since wm_ss has gotten such a late start, I agree that extending the deadline is a good idea (so I did).
