In B&W during the 1970's. The CTA Evanston Express running south into Chicago on most of the same trackage used by the Interurban North Shore Line. As you go thru Evanston, look off to the right at the C&NW bi-level pacing the train. Take a ride !
Heading east on the Capitol Limited (Old B&O) to DC, up the NE Corridor to NYC on the 21st century version of the PRR Clockers. Lake Shore Limited (Old NYC) back to Chicago. Finally the Empire Builder back home. See you in a few days.

It's been a while since I've put up anything on trains. Since fall is my favorite time of year, I thought I'd show some of nature's fireworks (Fine fall colors) and some the the trains riding thru them

Mid to upper 90's today. I thought I'd do something I've not done in a while to chase the heat away. Trains! Winter Trains! So cool off with me as the railroads face the blowing blizzards.
Here is the top of Rollins pass The Rio Grande's route thru the Rockies. The 4 percent grades and heavy snows got so bad that the pass was closed more of the year than it was open. It was a mix of switchbacks and snowsheds requiring lots of power for even small trains and was hell
