Title: The Drumming Sound
Rating: PG13
Summary: Song fic to Florence and the Machine's The Drumming Sound. This is Chloe's POV of what's going on inside her head after she and Oliver part at the end of Conspiracy. Kind of angsty.
Warnings: Slight spoilers for Absolute Justice and Conspiracy
Note: Listen to the song below and read along. Comments are love. This is what happens when I try to revise my Chlollie tag to Conspiracy and make a Chlollie playlist simultaneously. Just want to give credit to platysseus   for inspiring me.

There's a drumming noise inside my head
That starts when you're around
I swear that you could hear it
It makes such an all mighty sound

There's a drumming noise inside my head
That throws me to the ground
I swear that you should hear it
It makes such an all mighty sound

The drumming sound, it started when he'd beckoned her to join him in target practice. She'd thought it was the single malt making her heartbeat so loud that it drowned out everything else. She couldn't think about reason, rationale, fear, or insecurity. It left a ringing in her ear, but somehow made everything clear. And ever since she gave into the drawing power between them, the drumming sound, it fills her head up and gets louder and louder...

Louder than sirens
Louder than bells
Sweeter than heaven
And hotter than hell

I ran to a tower where the church bells chime
I hoped that they would clear my mind
They left a ringing in my ear
But that drum's still beating loud and clear

Louder than sirens
Louder than bells
Sweeter than heaven
And hotter than hell

Louder than sirens
Louder than bells
Sweeter than heaven
And hotter than hell

Louder than sirens
Louder than bells
Sweeter than heaven
And hotter than hell

As I move my feet towards your body
I can hear this beat it fills my head up
And gets louder and louder
It fills my head up and gets louder and louder

The drumming sound, it started again when he'd come to confront her, standing there as bristled and pointed as the arrow of his alter ego. She'd tried to ignore the sound and give him the answers he needed. But attempting to disregard it only made her body feel weak. Like he was necessary sustenance after she'd been on a break neck fast. She'd escaped back to her apartment with her body feeling as tight as the bow he strung to dole out his brand of justice. Finding refuge under the hot water of her shower, she'd hoped the stream would wipe out the drumming sound.

I run to the river and dive straight in
I pray that the water will drown out the din
But as the water fills my mouth
It couldn't wash the echoes out
But as the water fills my mouth
It couldn't wash the echoes out

I swallow the sound and it swallows me whole
Till there's nothing left inside my soul
As empty as that beating drum
But the sound has just begun

The drumming sound ceased for a while and she'd thought she would feel relieved, but only felt an emptiness unlike any other she'd ever experienced. Hot tears of frustration escaped down her face as she turned off the shower. She slid to the bottom of the tub and hugged her knees to her chest.

As I move my feet towards your body
I can hear this beat it fills my head up
And gets louder and louder
It fills my head up and gets louder and louder

There's a drumming noise inside my head
That starts when you're around
I swear that you could hear it
It makes such an all mighty sound

There's a drumming noise inside my head
That starts when you're around
I swear that you could hear it
It makes such an all mighty sound

Louder than sirens
Louder than bells
Sweeter than heaven
And hotter than hell

Louder than sirens
Louder than bells
Sweeter than heaven
And hotter than hell

After living with the drumming sound for weeks the silence was deafening. She hadn't realized how much she'd become addicted to the noise he created within her. She wanted... needed to feel it again, so she began to picture him there. Thinking about him; his hands on her body; his voice whispering in her ear; his body against hers... the drumming sound returned. Louder than sirens; louder than bells; sweeter than heaven and hotter than hell. Breathless, she realized that she never wanted it to go away again...

As I move my feet towards your body
I can hear this beat it fills my head up
And gets louder and louder
It fills my head up and gets louder and louder

I was revising my Chlollie tag to Conspiracy and I had this album on repeat. This song kept playing in my head, even when I was listening to the others, so I had to make a song fic out of it. I just had to. Hope you guys enjoy the song. It's on my Chlollie playlist that I'm working on right now.

Also, watch the video on YouTube! I LOVE IT! www.youtube.com/watch
