Writing and Available Time

Entry for: 5 April 2009
It’s a given that doing one thing may prevent doing another. Day-jobs that do NOT involve creative fiction cut into creative fiction time(s). Well - DUH!!!

I constantly complain that workdays run long and home is a refuge (regular readers nod their heads). This means that when I get home there are certain rejuvenile activities - like spending time with spouse, daughter (when they’re at home) and the dogs. Dog owners know that they are kept entities (not slaves to their canine cohabiters, but certainly subject to required activities among them: Play time outside without collar or leash, play time inside, feeding, Walking (collar and leash as tolerated) and skritching (please note - Abby, Lizzy, Caleigh and Mugs requested the correct spelling - SKRITCHING). Skritching is accomplished by those creatures with opposable digits and appropriate digital appendages - nails (not talons or claws) moving them in an opposable fashion so as to agitate the skin underlying canine outer cover - hair - NOT FUR.

The afternoon 4mi walk was terrific. The spring watershed has swollen the creeks to their boundaries (but not yet flooding). Rain tomorrow may give the extra water to get things more interesting. Lizzy went with me to keep the trail safe from bears, elves, small dinosaurs and other dangerous critters. Abby is still recovering from her ACL repair. She’ll be at least two months off the trails while things heal. She’s already on a short leash for walks on the driveway and NO farther - much as she thinks she’d like to.

Christopher (Son) sent a nice photo from “Rickety Scapholding” in Northern California.

Iphones are nice things to use for sending and receiving images, calls, and text. I recommend them if AT&T has a strong enough signal.

More later,
Doc
