Entry for Tuesday, 22 January 2008
Work went well enough. I'm REALLY pleased that we've switched over to Digital images from the sheet films that we used to put up and take down from view boxes - view boxes that will soon become obsolete in our setting (smiles for self and partners).
Microsoft has delivered a new version of MSWord. I have been using the Apple product "Pages" and find that it is not all that I need for my work and avocation. I'll probably be obliged to upgrade and then add "Endnote" to the assembly - much as I'd like to avoid MS products on a Mac. I do recall that when Apple was nearly on the ropes, Microsoft - Bill Gates - lent money and support to Apple to get it back on its feet. This was engineered by Steve Jobs and has taken Apple forward both as Interim CEO and now as the official person. I'm pleased for him and Apple.
The California Trip Is Approaching. I'm really looking forward to visiting with Son in San Francisco. If you have suggestions for things to see and do in the first week in February - please post them here. Daughter and I are on our own Tuesday through Thursday and we've both seen the Warf, Coit Tower and The Bridge.
The paper blog - also called a private journal has seen lots of new ink of late. There are topics that you don't want to read about and ones that I don't want to post (we all have these). The interesting aspect is that my fountain pens (several) are getting increasing usage. They had been sitting in a case that Spouse bought to help me protect them from loss and Lizzy's predation. At present, two of them grace the desktop - real wood desktop. It's nice to have them back in view. They're pretty.
The weather has warmed a bit. We're over the single digits and into the teens in the morning. This is a transient visit. We know that it will get cold again. It's just a matter of time.
More Later,
