Single Digits Curl Around the Thermometer

Entry for: Monday, 21 January 2008

Here in NH, we’re heading into the coldest time of the year. We were chilled into single digits (F) last night. Spouse put on her lined coveralls (and We do mean COVERS ALL) for horse chores today. That garment was only one of many layers. She was warm enough to be out in it for several hours for chores and then for clients. Smiles just thinking about “Dickies” brand coveralls. I have a several year older model of the same outfit. Mine was a gift from a friend who found the coveralls under the back seat of the used pickup truck he bought (says a LOT about the detailing that the truck received before my friend bought it). Spouse’s were a well received gift as a birthday/Xmas present.

With the coldest time of the year comes the time for indoor chores and lists of things that need doing when the weather is too - anything - to be out and about in. This year’s list includes clearing out the packing boxes that brought our home from the last house to this one. That may sound like a shallow task - but you’ve not seen the boxes (and their contents). IT will be a monumental task (and yes, I do plan to take the traditional “Before” and “After” pictures.

Abby’s healing comes further apace. She’s hardly limping at all after the 15-minute walks. Lizzy still tries to play. She, Lizzy, hasn’t figured out how long Abby’s recovery will take. They both want to play and it is play that might reverse all that’s gone before. It’s very hard to keep two young dogs who want to play but can’t be allowed to.

WisCon is coming up. I’ve made hotel, but not flight reservations. We’re still trying to figure out when I can head west. I’m also on the “Wait” list for a room in the Governor’s Club floors. More later on that I’m sure.

Tah for now,
Doc
