This is the first really bad pain day I've had in a long time. This morning I thought it was from too much cleaning -- I've been sublimating most of my energy into housecleaning, determined to rid myself of CAPOS* by the time Grey gets home from his trip -- but it also feels as if some things in my body are changing, including my bones. Very likely ( Read more... )

I love Buffalo Trace! First had it at Commander's Palace when they were out of Wild Turkey.

I feel like that message about Mr. Munigant was a secret thing from you to me.

It's not, of course, but such is the power of delightful stories shared.

It is! It's a secret message between you and me and anyone else who knows that wonderful story -- one of my favorites, by the way, though I love almost everything in The October Country.

The Wild Turkey probably relaxed you enough to ease the tension in your back--It's been so great to see you living your life and enjoying yourself that it began to seem that the antidote forchronic pain was pot, a bangin' (heh) sex life, personal happiness and Southern Decadence. A wee slow down might be a good idea.

On a side note, it's interesting about the bone density increase--I wonder f that might be some of the pain, you know, like growing pains in adolescence (which my brother will tell you is a truly real thing; he grew about 7 inches in the space of weeks back when he was 15 or so and he was in a lot of pain from it).

I can't remember having any growing pains when I was an actual kid, but then I never really grew that much. ;-P

I've been suffering from CAPOS for a long time. This morning, I cleaned my disgusting kitchen and vacuumed my entire apartment. That may not sound like a big deal, until you know that the dirty dishes had pushed past the boundaries of the sink and onto the stove and counter and that the carpet practically seemed like it was made out of litter. (How the fuck do such wee creatures manage to track so much of the stuff EVERYWHERE?)

I haven't had Rx painkillers for nearly a year now. I can't afford the necessary doctor visits, so I've just been supplementing OTC meds with weed and wine. Not the healthiest alternatives, but it at least keeps the pain at a dull roar instead of screaming in my ear.

Anyway, I'm glad you've reached a place of distaste for opiates, because I know how much trouble they came to be for you. I'm also glad to see you so happy. It's been much, much too long.

Please ... after twenty years of this, I totally understand how doing those things could be a HUGE deal. I'm sorry you don't have access to Rx painkillers. Have you tried Tramadol (Ultram)? It's not as strong as Vicodin, etc., but it's a hell of a lot easier to order online.
