A Pedantic Rant.... it's Pedrantic!!!
OK, my disgust for my Art History teacher has turned to true academic distain if not bloodlust. I'll frame my reasons in an open letter to her which I know she'll never read:

I don't care how you decide to interpret the paragraph in the book from which you gleaned your limited grasp of Roman history. I don't care that you assume all ancient attempts at egalitarianism were merely dictatorships in a thinly veiled disguise. I don't care that you use this knowledge to fire off statements about our current political situation without either backing them up with any kind of reasoning or premises. What I do care about is what historians have collectively deduced is the truth.
That truth is that the Roman Republic was not governed by both a Senate and a King!!!!!
This is not for my benefit, but for your own and for my poor uneducated, fuckwit classmates who don't know any better. You are filling their poor, impressionable heads with incorrect information and have weakened your already feeble academic credibility because of it. These mistakes are even more obscene considering the length of time you have devoted to them, and their seemingly irrelevance to our understanding of the artwork (note to bloggers: An hour later, all we learn about Roman art is that they were kick ass with arches, they invented concrete and they stole their temple design from the Greeks. No mention of government anywhere in there.).

OK, that's off my chest. Well, until I get back from class tonight.
As a side note, I'm unloading a large chunk of RPG material on ebay in the next month. Hope to clear some shelfspace and make some money at once.
