Civic Duty, Shmooty

I'm on call for jury duty next week. If I do get picked, it had better not be for more than a day. I'm defintely going to be biased if a case I'm sitting on screws up my life in some way, either financially or academically.

It's kinda a let down when you think "I'll go down to visit some family later this summer" and realize that you have 5 already accounted for weekends to accomplish it. It's also a relief in a way, because I was feeling pressured (by me, not by the family) to go visit.

Went to Modesto with Brooke on father's day, to visit her recently deceased grandfather's resting place. I didn't know exactly how to act, as I didn't really know her grandfather and wanted to be supportive yet allow her space. I apparently did the correct thing (hang back, not in sight unless she craned around, but still there). Relief again.

I was chatting earlier about getting together to game with friends. It's become a real challenge. It used to be that you could set a weekly or fortnightly. Now I'm lucky if I can get two people together on a Saturday with 2 weeks notice. There seems to be about a month long period between stating the intention to get something together and actually doing it. Every is just so busy.
