I'd hoped to get away from GenCon without a case of con crud; Sadly, it would appear to have waited until after the train trip to strike, and I now have a bit of a sinus thing happening, and a bit of a scratchy throat, and a shade of a fever at times.
Classic Con Crud, as I understand it.
Today was to be Operation Utilikilt, which is going down as a partial failure.
I did not buy a kilt, because I'm on the large end of the spectrum, and the San Francisco store dies not have the range that their Seattle one does.
I'm choosing to take this as more motivation to loose weight/fat, especially as said Utilikilts are not really built for taking in; If you become smaller, the thing won't really fit anymore. So I'll give it a while, and see where I can get to, and go from there.
The 'partial' comes from the fact that I DID manage to navigate the BART train system without help, and with only a couple of minor mistakes, such as 'ticket wrong way round' and 'not noticing the Do Not Use sign on one of the gates'. The 'gate just plain not working' is not, I feel, my fault.
(When I was a kid, I had a book about trains, including historical horse & wind-drawn, some of the real oddities, a poorly-explained glimpse of Trains Of The Future!, and the then-modern BART system.
Now, maybe 33 years later, I got to ride it, and it's pretty cool.
Not sure what the plan for the rest of today is, but it should involve lunch, and then a trip to a drugstore for SOMETHING for this con crud.
