I've recently met my career goal for the Marine Corps of getting promoted to Sgt. before my 6 year mark. It would seem like I've gotten everything that I had hoped for out of my time in the Corps and I must say that I'm very satisfied with my resume with them as I separate from the military: 2 deployments to combat zones (one fake one real, lol), 11 awards including 2 personal awards, and I picked up Sgt within my first enlistment. I must say, the past year hasn't been too bad; even going to Afghanistan can be chalked up to a good experience if I consider the things that I've learned about myself and of life. So good, in fact, that I had considered re-enlistment atleast for a second. Alas, my time is up and there is nothing that would make me consider sacrificing my life any more than I already have if I'm not going to make a career out of it; it is time to move on in the story. Truly, I can look back fondly of my time in the Marine Corps, despite all the bitter times and the set backs and the stress it put on my relationships, I must say that the institution and its people have played a big part in making me the person I am today. And boy am I proud of the person in the mirror. Thanks, Marines, and fight on in the journey ahead.
USC. The next hurdle in my life. The next obstacle to be overcome.
Random fact: The colors of both the Marine Corps and USC are red and gold. Coincidence?
