emo_raito has been moping around the mansion most of the week - he's not taking the breakup with commeo particularly well. he's wandering aimlessly through the hallways today, and he shuffles into an unfamiliar room without actually realizing it. it's a bar - a different bar than any that have already been seen around the mansion - mostly dark, fairly average

*When L catches sight of emo-raito in the hall, he follows him into the room. He was informed of the breakup when he spoke with commeo in the course of investigating deathdefiance's body; checking up on Light at this time would be prudent.*

*Is this the length that Light will go to, to avoid a conversation? As he wonders, and listens to Light's song, his own song queues up.*

*light finishes his song a little shakily and wanders off the stage.*

i don't know that song. weird.

*He opens his mouth to speak to Light, but instead, he feels an inexorable compulsion to go to the stage and sing.*

*His voice is a reasonably pleasant baritone, if untrained. Still, he looks unhappy to be singing, and dazed when he stumbles off the stage at the end of the song.*

*light applauds as L exits the stage*

hey, you're pretty good at that! i never would've guessed.

*he's in a much better mood now*

[by this point, Light has become pretty resigned to not finding the right room, so he just sighs and rolls his eyes when the door opens to an unfamiliar bar instead of the winter room. when he finds himself walking up to the stage of his own volition, he just folds his arms, looking distinctly unimpressed. when he halts in front of the microphone and the music starts to play, he sticks his hands in his pockets; but when he starts to sing, he drops the irked/resigned attitude a little bit. he's a good, seasoned performer, and of course he's going to utilize that in favour of embarrassing himself by letting his lack of general enthusiasm show.

when the song finishes, he hops off the stage and heads over to emo_raito, shaking his head.] Just so long as the plan doesn't involve killer notebooks, I guess.

[emo_raito]

*light applauds*

hey, other me! that was pretty cool!

*and then he suddenly looks confused*

killer notebooks? huh? what do you mean?

[pause.] Uh. [taking a seat next to him.] Injoke. It's a... difficult to explain.

So.

... you okay? [looking over carefully.]

*light plasters a smile on his face. if it seems forced, that's because it is.*

sure. great. why wouldn't i be?

how 'bout you? anything new and exciting?

*Mel would like a drink, since she didn't want to give Mail's body alcohol, and she walks into the bar without knowing it's going to do something. She does manage to grab a bottle of cider from the bar as she passes by it, and manages to take a healthy swig when she realizes she's going to sing whether she likes it or not. At least the song the machine puts up for her is one she likes. She has an untrained, but pretty good, clear soprano voice, and she looks around as she sings, hoping Mail will hear at least some of this.*

*applause*

hey, mel. that's pretty.

*Mel is not Light's number one fan... ever, really, but especially not now. She takes another swig of cider before she can be polite.*

*light can sense the vibe of dislike emanating from mel, so he nods and backs off. he can guess whose side she's on.*

[beyond_boredom]

[B saunters into the room, hands shoved in his pockets, and strolls leisurely toward the stage. A spooky tune laden with creepy synth lines begins to play, and he sings the words with dramatic accompanying movements in a voice eerily replicating that of Kate Bush. He grins at the song's conclusion, staring over at firm_detective.]

::as soon as the song starts, she smiles slightly, knowing it well. She's surprised that he goes all out and vaugely wonders if he's preformed before. Once he's finished, she claps, smiling::
That was great! Kate Bush is wonderful, though I really liked Placebo's version, too.

[He grins.]

Thank you. I've never done that before in front of other people. It was quite exhilarating.

I love Kate Bush, but I've not heard Placebo. What do they sing?

::she smiles:: Yes, it feels rather impowering, doesn't it. ^__^

Place sings... well, one of their most popular songs was in the movie Cruel Intentions, it was called "Every You, Every Me." They also sing "Meds," "Without You I'm Nothing," which is actually a duet with David Bowie, oh, and "My Sweet Prince," which is one of my favorites. ::she grins:: Placebo is one of my favorite bands.

You love Kate Bush? That's wonderful. Was that your favorite song by her? My favorite by her so far is "The Man with the Child in his Eyes." That, and "Wuthering Heights" and "King of the Mountain."
