Story Or Series Title: Girl with a Lock, Detective with a Key
Fandom: Death Note
Culprit Author's Name:
Skai07 Full Name (plus titles if any): Manami Saika, nicknamed Sai, alias Misaki
Full Species(es): L's tru luv Sue
Hair Color (include adjectives): "chestnut haired," "long warm chestnut hair," "chest nut sort of coloured hair" -- every description of her hair contains chestnut. Even one of the A/Ns uses it.
Eye Color (include adjectives): dark brown, "chocolate brown eyes"
Unusual Markings/Colorations:
Special Possessions (if any): a Death Note with the letter S on the cover, her own personal shinigami, a mansion with a rose garden that L gave her.
Annoying Origin: A shinigami named Sin was watching the Sue from the shinigami realm, having been "entranced" by the her smile, and rescues her from "being chased by some drunk bastard" by dropping his Death Note on the drunk so the drunk can see him. Sin then frightens the drunk into falling off a pier, which drowns him. Coincidentally, Sin pulls this stunt before Ryuk does his own dropping-a-Death-Note-into-the-human-world, but the Suethor makes sure to have Ryuk continually complain to Sin over how bored he is, so she can give all the credit to Sin by making Ryuk copy him.
Annoying Connections To Canon Characters: L's "secret" girlfriend. BFFs with a shinigami. Enemies of Light, and, odd as it sounds, Mello and Matt. Is not in the Japanese Task Force but can get into their headquarters at any time, because she's more competent than them and needs to fix their screw ups.
Annoying Special Abilities: Shows up moments before L's death (Watari doesn't die in this story), after which Light helps her bring L's corpse to a hotel room (it's never said why Watari would allow this, as the Sue isn't explaining why she's doing this), after which her shinigami takes her to the shinigami realm to meet with the king, who allows the Sue to gamble to bring back L.
Other Annoying Traits: Is supposed to be a secret, but somehow everyone connected with L knows of her relationship with him. For some reason the Sue gets monumentally offended by being called L's lover instead of his girlfriend. Mello is rendered OOC by being angered at L living after all, and he vows to outdo L by catching Kira first, which can only be done by him and Matt (who gets shinigami eyes) kidnapping and "breaking" the Sue. Also, Mello inexplicably becomes a shinigami at the end, both because the reviewers were asking for him to be brought back and for the Suethor to have a flashy ending promising a sequel.
Please include a small sample of the worst of this story:
“If you respected L and idolized him, YOU WOULDN’T KIDNAP HIS GIRLFRIEND!”
“Not stealing. Borrowing.” She heard the sarcasm. Still, he didn’t reply in an argumentative tone and relaxed back on the couch with a new chocolate bar. “Rest up, tomorrow we’re gonna go to a place where we can see your lover.”
“Boyfriend.” growled Saika.
“Shouldn’t you be happy if he’s called your lover?” Mello snorted.
“You wouldn’t understand. You’re what, fifteen?” she retorted and moved her foot to stand.
...yeah, okay. People really need to think before submitting this sort of dialogue. Insinuating a relationship is less than what it really is works fine for an insult, but lover has been an acceptable title for far longer than boyfriend/girlfriend, and it does not only mean "sexual partner." It can be argued that "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" are far more casual/less mature titles.
"“Lower your gun.” said L drawled quietly, placing a hand on Mello’s arm, “You will get into more trouble if--” Mello’s finger twitched--
BAM.
Near jumped slightly as a bullet from Matt’s gun missed him. And the second it shot, out of pure shock and reaction-BAM! Mello’s gun fired directly at Near, whom was forcedly pushed out of the way by Saika. The bullet pierced her arm (which was outstretched to push Near). She stumbled, but stood nevertheless. (A/N: No way am I having her fall dramatically v.v)
L dragged a fearful looking Mello next to Sai. Near walked to her,
“He respects you both.” she said not as firmly as she thought it would, her eyes squinting slightly, “He really does...” He respects who? The Sue who flips her shit over L being called her lover instead of her boyfriend? Or L, who can only be attacked through tormenting the Sue? And what the hell happened to Kira, the entire point of Death Note? You can't honestly be making him a little side note in favor of this idiotic "struggle." And A/Ns in the story this time! Just about every chapter is started and followed by a ton of the things. I'm sure I've featured this Suethor before! Unless even more of them posting fics with more A/Ns than story content?
“You’re L.” she said simply, ‘Only because you killed the real L you bastard’.
“Please don’t waste our time, you know we’re talking about the real L who supposedly passed away.” Light said patiently. But just how patient could Light be with Saika?
“I am not admitting anything.” Saika said calmly, “Because I don’t understand why you’re pulling me into this mess, when I’m still upset with Ryuuzaki’s passing.”
“Why would you be walking around the city if you were still in mourning for his loss then?” Light shot back,
“Why would you give a damn?” she shot back in a snappier voice.
“Because you were his girlfriend and he was my friend.” he snapped.
“If he was your friend you wouldn’t have killed him.” she angrily, yet foolishly retorted.
“What?” Light asked, successfully feigning shock.
“Face it,” Saika said, recovering from her own shock, “You’re Kira.” Everyone in the room was quiet, until--
“Light-kun is not Kira!” Misa shouted, upset and clinging on to Light’s arm. Saika glared at her feet, vowing not to speak anything more-
“S-Sir!” everyone turned to the computer where Matsuda pointed. On the screen, read ‘L’. Saika backed to a wall to lean on as she watched with nervousness. ‘Saika, just breathe normally, don’t do anything more stupid, don’t say anything more stupid... don’t ruin anything more for L.’ she whispered mentally to herself and closed her eyes, relaxing her shoulders.
“This is L.” said the crackling, disguised voice. “As you can see, I am alive.”
“That’s not possible!” Mogi spluttered and rubbed his eyes. Soichiro, whom had been silent, said,
“If you really are L, prove it. What would your evidence be?”
“I was killed by Kira before I could be reunited with Sai, in the hotel lobby.”
Well. Way to take away all suspense.
The Suethor has Matsuda and Aizawa attempting to handcuff Light and at the same time, not paying attention enough so Light can successfully grab Matsuda's gun and shoot L. Multiple times. After the Sue gets to dramatically angst over L's dead body, she's about to shoot Light dead (after he's suddenly tied to a chair), but Matsuda steals the gun from her and steals her glory by shooting Light himself, as he did in canon, only now with all dramatic, epic badassedness completely ruined, courtesy of the Suethor's retconning.
