It all boiled down to Mello's temper. It burned hot and fierce and quick. He couldn't keep a hold on it. It wasn't like didn't try. But he had a short and nasty temper, that was all there was to it. And Near just pissed him off.
So really, it was all Near's fault. If Near hadn't pissed him off - he couldn't even remember how, now - he never would have lost his temper. And he never would have thrown the first punch. And if he hadn't thrown the first punch....
God, it pissed him off even to remember it. How Near had narrowed his eyes and just ploughed into him. The smaller boy had headbutted him in the stomach, knocking him down. And then Near was on top of him, frowning and grunting as he punched Mello's shoulders with his little hands. And that wouldn't have been bad. It wasn't like tiny little Near could hurt him. But he'd fought back. And they'd ended up with their legs all twisted together and Near practically smothered under Mello and then it had happened.
At least Mello could take comfort in the fact that he hadn't ( ... )

Mello lives, Kira wins (possibly as a result of the former), and Light feels so much anger at Mello and Near for challenging him and so much twisted power that he decides death isn't good enough for them. He tells Near he's either going to turn him or Mello into the sex slave of him and the dozens his supporters he's hired beside Mikami to help him run his "New World". If Near wants to protect Mello (and of course Light is evilly counting on this), he has to not only agree to do anything sexual Kira and his followers ask of him, but he has to make it seem like he likes it, really really likes. Because if Mello can tell Near isn't doing it by choice, he will want to put a stop to it, Light and Near both know, and Light says the only option he'll allow Mello is to take Near's place ( ... )

I know this is a late reply, but for other people's reference this is *way* too long for a writing prompt. At most a prompt should set up a scenario for the writer, not lay out every detail. Otherwise, there's really nothing for the writer to do creatively except re-word what you've already put down. And take it from me - not fun.

Something like this would be more appropriate:

OC/Near, Light/Near: Near is forced to whore himself to Light and his followers to protect Mello. Mello misunderstands completely, and possibly offers himself to Light willingly out of a twisted sense of inferiority/jealousy. Even better if Mello's forced to cross-dress.

And for the record, the idea is FUCKING HOT and I really like it. so please don't take this as bashing or anything.
