I always knew I had almost too many interests in my life: sewing, painting, writing, reading, singing, and so on.  It's often a major balancing act to give each interest enough attention to succeed, on top of the day job, upkeep of the home (thankfully shared with E), and being social online and in person.
( Lately, I feel like the plate is wobbling around, tossing things aside as I try to balance it. )

I've already posted this all over Facebook, but figured I might as well share it here, too.
After all the toil and tribulations that went into my third Tevious novel, Broken Legacy, I finally finished it and turned it into Tyree at Sam's Dot Publishing!

Life's moving along at it's usual busy Renaissance Festival pace. There's so much going on right now, it's hard for me to keep track of what day it is.

- I'm still stuck in revision purgatory for Broken Legacy, with notes for the final five chapters from Editor Ed sitting in my in box, taunting me.  It feels like yet another slump in a series of slumps in this project.

Without the original convention-related deadline looming over our heads,  the pace for Broken Legacy has become a nice leisurely walk instead of a soul-crushing sprint.  After a good two+ week break after the structural edits, Editor Ed started sending 2nd round edit notes.  They've been coming every day or two, and are usually less than a couple ( Read more... )

I made it through the first round of structural revisions in Broken Legacy.  For all the pain, I do think it's much better. The deadline's been relaxed a little, so my stress level is no longer at "argghh."  The next draft is now in Editor Ed's hands for the second pass, and I get a week to relax and do other things.  Yay!

Slowly but surely, I'm working through my next pass of revisions in Broken Legacy before I send it back to Editor Ed for still more polishing.  The book is a weird mix right now of tiny little typos/revision artifacts, and huge sections of rewrite.  Some parts are simply better fleshed out (or better written) than others.  I wonder if that's ( Read more... )

After nearly two weeks of getting more and more tense about the revisions to Broken Legacy, I finally hit the breaking point on Friday, emailing Editor Ed and telling him I was overwhelmed and might not make our deadline.  Bless his heart, he "talked me off the cliff" so to speak.
