i LOVE to pay my bills. love it, love it, love it! i spent many an hour at work last week figuring out my credit card interest rates and transferring balances and juggling my debt. the result? i now have three cards (two of the ones with the highest interest rates) with very low balances. and when i get paid on friday, i will pay the two high-interest ones off totally, then cancel them FOREVER! MBNA and Capital One can suck my big fat wang. i also made a super complicated spreadsheet in excel that helps me track my bills and income. i am not one for the numbers, but i do love a good spreadsheet, so i'm trying to trick myself into actually managing my money. shh, don't tell ... me.
here's the sick part ... though i don't get paid until friday, the U has this system where you can view the ammount of your next check online the wednesday before your friday pay day. so i looked at it this morning and am pre-planning how much money i am going to put on each card, and which ones i am going to pay off. i am looking forward to friday as if it was christmas, only i'm giving away money instead of getting it. but my present is digging myself out of debt. yay me!
quitting smoking has really been profitable. i mean, by no means am i rolling in dough -- far from it -- but i can now make it from pay day to pay day without dwindling my checking account down to change and digging in the couch for quarters. i actually have a few dollaz left from last time, and i don't have to resort to putting gas or something on a card. it is a step in the right direction. and if i get a promo/raise/bonus by the end of the month as promised ... well, there will be no stopping my debt-reduction madness! PLUS, my merit raise kicks in on sept. 2. no word on the exact percentage i'll be getting yet, but i should know soon, and my boss said he recommended a FAT-ASS increase for me to the big guy, so ... not counting my chicks yet, but things are looking up a bit, financially. :-) FINALLY!
