A quick look up showed this: "Alternative medicine practitioners often use the term Candida to refer to a complex with broad spectrum of symptoms, the majority of which center around gastrointestinal distress and other miscellaneous symptoms. This diagnosis is debated by mainstream medicine." Also, and I'll paraphrase here, that any intestinal or systemic yeast infestations only occur in people with heavily weakened or compromised immune systems, which could mean they're claiming a magic bullet solution to all your problems which may not actually work. Caveat emptor. Your milage may vary. Etc. I know I may be repeating what you've already heard here, but it would be irresponsible for me to read contradictory info and not inform you so that you can do your own research and continue taking a very active and controlling role in your health.
Well the problem from the medical communities perspective is because candida albicans is natural flora of the intestine they really have no means of empirically determining whether or not an imbalance is in place. According to my readings this problem has only been diagnosed since '84. I figure its a win win scenario - even if there is a minor imbalance changing my diet and cutting down my drinking is only going to help in any case, n'est pas?
I remember the yeast syndrome fad of the mid 80's, and let's just say that's why I looked things up as I remember there being some questions to it's validity as a theoretical framework. As I said before, your milage will vary ;) On the second part, I think a dietary change is a damn good idea as what you described, to me, sounds like it could be a gluten intolerance. Hell, if you're willing to sacrifice a bit now in order to really get to the bottom of things, I think an elimination diet, slowly bringing in suspect foods one at a time, preferably with the aid of a dietician, could really do wonders for you digestion wise as you can pretty definitely highlight any and all foods that cause any problem with you. It is a tedious and slow process, but you seem willing to put the work in now, so, why not go for it if you can get the oppertunity.
get yer self into to a specialist. do the research. figure out a plan/diet and stick to it.
the bio system has to be in ballance as well. though these kinda things arnt nessessarly apearant to a casual status check.
though your not the only one that has had interesting diet related mental issues. we know several people that have also had them. heck, even i found changes to my diet helps things at points.
thanks - trying to daily kick the shit out of the yeasties (using something called nystatin) and then replace them with good intestinal critters (drinking that chunky bio-k yogurt stuff).
I can eat vegetables, white meat, and drink water. And that's about it. (sigh)
