I fell off the planet there for a while. We went camping, recovered for a few days, then my sister-in-law from Texas came to Alabama with her husband and kid, so we drove down there nearly every day last week. Now we're hiding out in the house for a few days until the kids recalibrate.
We went camping at
Fall Creek Falls State Park. Hiking, fishing, and fun were had by all.
Little girl started using the word "bait" and insisted on getting a blueberry worm to feed the fish (because blueberries are her favorite). She also learned to chew gum. Little man thought the whole point of fishing was to feed the worm to the fish, so he was excited every time he reeled in an empty hook. He said when I grew bigger, I would be able to cast halfway around the world. I had to break it to him that I was as big as I was going to get. Falling asleep in the sun with a fishing pole in my hand was one of the high points. Our tent was on a bit of a slant, so we tended to slide towards one end while we were sleeping. I'd have to reach over and slide the kids back up to the top a few times a night. :)
My favorite quote of the weekend was little man saying, "Mommy, she has a black ant and she's not sharing it with me!" Yes, she had a big, black ant that she was letting run up and down her arms and, no, she wasn't sharing it with him, but there were plenty of ants. I had to catch one for him in order to diffuse the situation.
I'll do a family-visiting update later.
