Reduce, Reuse

After a month without a dishwasher, I finally tapped out and told PA to go ahead and get a new one. I had been doing pretty well, for a while, but a few bad days in a row and the kitchen would be covered up in dishes. While he pondered teh internets, Mom and I went shopping.

She needed something from the Army Surplus Store and it gives her the creeps, so I had to go with her. (Like it takes a lot of arm-twisting to leave the kids at home and hang out with my mom.) I was looking around at everything as we were leaving and she said, "Does it bring back memories?"  "Yes, I was just thinking about how nicely my canteen doubled as a pillow."  I loved those canteens.

I went into Walmart with her, but I didn't buy anything. :) Then we went into Bethel Thrift Shop(pe?) to look for scrub pants. I found two sweaters to use for felting (which I'll add to the other one that I still haven't felted) and a mini muffin pan. We came around an aisle and there was a dining room set for six people. I was so excited. We've been using a table that, with the leaf in, only seats four, and the chairs were falling apart so we used the folding chairs that came with my card table. "We're having people over for dinner. Quick, feed the kids before they get here so everyone will have a place to sit!"  The table at Bethel had robin's egg blue chairs and table base and a nice laminated  fake wood grain top (easy wipe-up for grubby kid stuff). I sent PA a "please, baby, please" text with pic, but he said he wanted to see it in person. Argh!  We went up to pay for our stuff and there was a sign: ALL FURNITURE 50% OFF.   So, I got him to see it and agree to it ("yes, I'll get a tablecloth for it, yes, you can paint them white) and we got it for 90 bucks! Hurray!

He and Dad brought it home and he went back out to get a dishwasher. He found an Energy Star one (of course) that says it will only take $29/yr to power based on four loads a week. Pretty cool. It also matches our other appliances. Our old one came from some friends of ours who were redoing their kitchen, so it was black and didn't match the fridge and stove.  I did raise an eyebrow to the model name:  Quiet Partner 1. I think he's trying to tell me something. ;)

Me: You really, what's the word for it? Anyway, you spoil me.
PA:  I indulge you.
Me: Yes, that's it, you indulge me.
PA: You know I'd do just about anything to make you happy.
Me: Aww, you are so sweet!
(a few minutes later)
Me: Wait, when you said, "just about anything"....

I finished little girl's quilt on Friday. I'll post pictures later. I don't feel like crawling under the desk to plug in the scanner.
