The joys of car ownership

Last week when I was driving to the beach, it was pointed out that one of my headlights had gone out. After trying a few things, I found that yes, my headlight had in fact gone out.

So this week I've been poking around various websites, trying to find a decent deal on a headlight assembly (you can't replace individual bulbs, it has to be the whole deal at once). Unfortunately it was going to cost me at least $100. This even kept me from driving to a party last night because I didn't want to get dinged for driving at night with a dead headlight.

Then today I decide I'm going to pop my hood and jiggle the wire a bit. Lo and behold, the problem is fixed. By jiggling the wire. Silly complicated pieces of machinery. But then I have a feeling that all the problems I've been having lately (coolant leak, apparently dead headlight) have stemmed from the accident I got into last fall because they've all been in that same corner. Oh, unintended consequences.
