Went out to karaoke with
loneminstrel82, a fellow TV Guide wage slave, about two weeks back. I didn't sing, but she did. She does a good Alanis Morissette. She also enjoys mockery and cruel humor, which is probably why we get along.
Went with
shellefly to the North Star Bar on Saturday to see a band called The Company perform Pink Floyd's "The Wall" in its entirety. Also in attendence were luminaries such as
yagathai,
kemidra, and
notshakespeare. The band did their best to recreate the album, complete with the sound effects and voices between tracks. The show kicked into high gear when they performed Comfortably Numb, with the guitarist really rocking the solo. Afterwards, they did a set of various Floyd songs, including Time, Dogs, and Wish You Were Here. They brought up a saxaphonist for a rendition of "Money" that got the crowd going (although it was funny watching people trying to dance to a song in 7/4 time - it doesn't quite work), and finished up the show with Brain Damage and Eclipse. All in all it was a great show.
And finally, it turns out I won't be going to Origins this year, as I have neither a ride nor a room. It's mabye just as well, since I can't really afford it. Still, it kind of sucks. But still, I've got a long weekend coming up, and I've got a project in mind that will probably fill most of it.
I'm sure there's other stuff, but that's all I can think of at the moment.
