Alison was only fourteen when her mother died. She didn't have a lot of options at that point.
Her mother and father separated when she was six years old. The court battle for custody lasted until she was nine. She never knew why her parents divorced, but she knew it had something to do with religion.
Her grandmother picked her up from the hospital the day her mom passed.
“Grandma?” asked Alison, “why can't I go live with Dad?”
Her grandmother turned completely pale. She told her, “Your father hasn't been in Lakewood in four years.”
Alison knew that her father wasn't in the city anymore, but that didn't mean she couldn't go live with him. She knew something was not right....
