Chicago, Etc

Last night I went to the Chicago final dress rehearsal.  I didn't get tickets in time for the actual run (starting tonight), which sold out faster than Lindsay Lohan.  Technically I didn't get a ticket for the dress rehearsal either, but I wasn't about to let that stop me from getting in.  If there's one thing I've learned from tearing tickets for 3 years, it's how to get past the usher.

Chicago itself-
I was dissappointed with the lack of creativity, especially on the part of the direction.  Sure, there were some attempts, but on the whole the show didn't appear to offer anything new or original.  The script lends itself to some great comedic moments that I felt were completely glossed over.
That being said, I still enjoyed the hell out of the show (thank god, it's the first ECU production I've genuinely enjoyed).  The first act was a little low on energy, but after intermission it really picked up.  Katie Wilson, Clay Boney, and Kyle Langworthy were especially enjoyable (as Velma, Amos and Billy Flynn), as well as many of the smaller parts in the chorus.  Great singing.  Great dancing.  I am glad, in the end, I wasn't cast in this show.  There was an overall feeling (and this may have just been the dress rehearsal attitude) that the cast was getting tired of the show, but I'm sure that will change on the official opening night.

After chicago I went home and watched the new season premiere of South Park with my roommates.  It delt with the international obsession over WoW (World of Warcraft, for all you noobs out there).  It was hilarious and disgusting and we loved it.

Al and I I are about to leave for Moon Over Buffalo, a play out in Farmville, which my friend Erin Bartley is in.  It'll be good to go somewhere.  Meisner sucked ass today.
